How the Holistic Approach revolutionized my life and business and how I can help You achieve the same
Have you ever reflected on the true meaning of living in harmony with yourself and the world around you? Since childhood, I have pondered this question, questioning the purpose of our presence at this moment and on this planet.
Entering adulthood, I immersed myself in the so-called "hustle culture," an incessant cycle of work aimed at testing myself and gaining approval from others. In my genuine desire to contribute, excel, and face every challenge with determination, my inner voice slowly faded away.
However, my "success" came at a price: work overload led me to the breaking point, bringing forth a growing sense of inner restlessness. I hit rock bottom when my inner discomfort manifested as tangible physical pain.
In an attempt to realign, I embarked on a journey of personal transformation, embracing a holistic approach to life.
Today, we will explore how holistic disciplines shaped my journey and how I can now share this vision to help you build a life anchored in well-being, harmony, and awareness. Be ready to delve into a world where mind, body, and spirit intertwine, creating a unique symphony of vitality and personal fulfillment.
Holistic World: The Foundations
In the darkest moment of my life, confined to bed due to my condition, I made a discovery that would radically change the course of my days. Serendipitously, I stumbled upon a life coaching community. While I had heard of coaching before, I had never delved into the topic. However, that faint inner voice had not completely abandoned me; instead, it urged me to make a fundamental investment in myself—a gesture I had never made before, except for the usual daily physical activities like booking a massage, going to the spa, or taking a walk.
Joining this community was a turning point. From the start, I received warm support from members, sparking genuine enthusiasm in me that I hadn't felt in a long time. Gradually, I began to take my first steps into the world of personal growth and holistic self-care.
Holistic, from the Greek word "ὅλος holos," meaning whole or complete, refers to a philosophical and therapeutic approach that seeks to understand and improve a person's overall well-being—not only physical health but also emotional, mental, spiritual, and social health.
One of the fundamental principles of the holistic world is that the body, mind, and spirit are interconnected and influence each other.
Everything is interconnected, and optimal health and happiness cannot be achieved if any of these aspects are neglected.
Therefore, when experiencing physical discomfort, it is often linked to emotional or mental stress. Conversely, when a person experiences emotional distress, it can manifest as physical symptoms.
Recognizing this interconnection, a holistic approach aims to address the root cause of a person's problems rather than merely treating the symptoms.
This concept became evident during my journey. Engaging in regular group coaching sessions, targeted one-on-one meetings with specialized coaches, and the support of a therapist, I began to peel away the "heavy layers" accumulated over the years. These layers had contributed to closing myself off, turning my life into a cycle of home-work and work-home.
My commitment was visible: through psychological therapy, I explored the past, addressing traumas and wounds accumulated over the years. In parallel, with coaching, I projected into the future, outlining and refining the vision of my ideal life.
Working on my mind, I began to perceive changes manifesting in my body as well. However, I felt that a fundamental piece was still missing.
Some time before my incident, I had the opportunity to participate in an extraordinary yoga session with Tibetan singing bowls. This unique event, proposed by a yogi to introduce himself in my working environment, was a true turning point.
That afternoon, I felt light as a feather, and I still vividly remember that extraordinary sensation. After the incident, I decided to incorporate yoga into my daily routine. I adopted a gradual and gentle approach, aware that my body had already faced many challenges. I didn't want to ask it for more; this time, I was the one supporting it.
Through the practice of yoga, I began to explore other holistic disciplines, including meditation and Reiki.
Holistic Disciplines
Holistic disciplines are designed to support the body's natural healing processes, promote relaxation, and reduce stress. Examples of holistic therapies include Reiki, acupuncture, herbal medicine, meditation, and yoga. These therapies can help reduce physical pain, improve sleep, boost immunity, and enhance overall well-being.
Each of these disciplines offers a unique and complementary approach, allowing those who adopt them to create a harmonious balance between mind, body, and spirit, fostering a sense of vitality and lasting awareness.
For example, holistic nutrition in the holistic context aims to provide the body with all essential nutrients for optimal well-being, reducing inflammation, and maintaining a healthy weight. Finally, the holistic world encourages spiritual growth through practices such as meditation, mindfulness, and yoga, offering the opportunity to connect with something greater, bringing inner peace, improving relationships, and cultivating a sense of purpose in life.
After investing in numerous courses for personal and professional growth and regaining the confidence I had temporarily lost amid the challenges of recent years, I finally felt ready to transform everything I had learned up to that point. At this stage, my vision was clear and defined, shaped with dedication and consistency.
The decision to explore my passions was crucial because the more I devoted myself to what I loved, the more my well-being grew.
Once I discovered my passions (if you've visited my website, you know what I'm talking about! lol), I decided to invest in myself and start my entrepreneurial journey. I knew with certainty that I no longer wanted to contribute to realizing someone else's dreams and goals; it was time to achieve mine. Every step in my entrepreneurial journey revealed how my holistic self-work had excellently prepared me for this new adventure.
For example, I had developed the ability to recognize when I needed to give myself rest, both physically and mentally. I knew with extreme clarity what I truly wanted and why. I learned to balance intense work with lighter activities and adopt a holistic approach to projects, considering various factors rather than focusing solely on the goals themselves. I had set routines and habits that helped me tackle my goals with harmony.
Today, I guide people to develop a holistic vision when venturing into the world of entrepreneurship.
As I interact with aspiring entrepreneurs or seasoned professionals, the external conditioning that often drives or has driven them down this path becomes increasingly evident.
Of course, profit is crucial. However, it should not be the primary goal.
The key is our "why"—the driving and motivating force. Possessing a solid "why" gives you the strength to move forward despite the challenges that may arise.
During consultations, I often notice an excessive focus on immediate goals, neglecting the importance of the big picture.
For example, if you think that creating a website will automatically bring you immediate gains, you might only focus on the tangible goal of having a functional site. However, a holistic approach would urge you to explore the deep reason behind this entrepreneurial decision. Perhaps you want to increase your brand visibility, reach a broader audience, or share your passion with the world. Recognizing your "why" will not only give you a functional website but also a more comprehensive and sustainable strategy for long-term success, integrating aspects such as your mission, values, and emotional connection with your audience.
The Entrepreneur's Holistic Approach
A holistic entrepreneurial approach requires an integrated view that considers various aspects of life and work. Here are some key principles for a holistic approach in the business world:
Define Your "Why"
Understand deeply why you want to embark on this entrepreneurial journey. Your "why" should be more meaningful than just financial gain. Focus on your passions, values, and the mission you want to pursue.
Connection with the Audience
Don't limit yourself to commercial transactions. Strive to build a deeper connection with your audience. Understand your customers' needs, values, and desires and try to create an authentic relationship based on mutual trust.
Personal Development
Invest in your personal development as much as you invest in your business. Be aware of your skills and challenges, and always look for ways to grow both personally and professionally. Remember the interconnection between various aspects of life.
Sustainability
Think long-term. A holistic approach implies the sustainability of your business not only financially but also in terms of environmental and social impact. Consider how your business can contribute positively to the world. Also, ensure that your actions and strategies are designed to last over time, not just for short-term results.
Active Listening
Be open to listening and understanding. Recognize that success can come from the ability to adapt and respond to the changing needs of the market and your customers. Moreover, consider customer feedback as a valuable resource, an anticipation of potential solutions. Never underestimate the power of listening before acting.
Collaboration
Create partnerships and collaborate with other entrepreneurs and professionals. A holistic approach recognizes the importance of networking and sharing resources, but most importantly, surrounding yourself with people on a similar path and perhaps a few steps ahead is an opportunity for growth, not a threat. Surround yourself with people who want to grow together.
Work-Life Balance vs Harmony
A separate principle of the entrepreneur's holistic approach should be dedicated to this famous work-life balance.
I have always wondered, "Does it really exist?" The more I tried to achieve it, the more it seemed like a distant, almost impossible goal.
Then, listening to a podcast, the host discussed the concept of harmony between work and life. He explained that balance can be challenging to achieve because it involves many aspects of both personal and work life. It is often connected to the idea of dividing time between work and personal life evenly, such as working eight hours and dedicating an equal amount of time to personal interests or rest. And automatically, we become demotivated and give up.
The interesting perspective, however, suggested creating harmony between these two aspects rather than focusing on duality. This indicates a more natural and synergistic integration of work and life, where there is a harmonious coexistence without a clear separation.
For a holistic entrepreneur, understanding that success should not translate into excessive work at the expense of mental, physical, or personal health (and vice versa) is essential. The holistic approach encourages creating routines that promote overall well-being, encouraging investments in passions, and cultivating a love for what one does.
